Clinical Supervision for Ohio CS Licensure

If you are a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) in the state of Ohio and wish to be able to supervise others, you must complete the mandated requirements for a Clinical Supervisor endorsement through the Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (ODPB) ( https://ocdp.ohio.gov/Certification-and-Licensure/Endorsement-Requirements).

Those requirements are as follows:

  • Hold an active LICDC
  • One year (2,000 hours) of chemical dependency counseling related work experience (compensated work or supervised internship)
  • One additional year (2,000 hours) of work experience as a clinical supervisor of chemical dependency counseling services (Cannot be the same dates as the chemical dependency counseling related work)
  • 30 hours of clinical supervisory education
  • Successful completion of the ADC & CS examinations or completion of Examination Waiver Form
  • Completion of online application

ODPB board rules require that you complete “Of this work experience requirement, two thousand hours shall be clinical supervisory experience in the AODA field including two hundred hours of face-to-face clinical supervision”.

DJM Recovery is licensed and equipped to provide for the supervision requirements of your application for the Clinical Supervisor (CS) Certification.  Through this educational process you will experience an increase in your supervisory knowledge base and awareness of the many nuances of being in a supervisory role.  Case presentation as well as education on supervision specific topics will increase supervisor skills.  Supervision may be provided on a group or individual basis which will provide insights from others while still giving each participant individual attention and oversight.
